MUSIC DIRECTOR & CONDUCTOR
Dr. Brian P. Harris is Director of Bands at McLennan
Community College in Waco, Texas. Prior to joining the MCC faculty, he
taught public school band in Alabama and was Associate Professor
of Music at the University of Texas at San Antonio. He
holds the Ph.D. in Music Education from the Florida State University, the
Master of Music Education from Louisiana State University, and the Bachelor
of Music from Samford University.
Performance experience (horn) includes the Würzburg (Germany) Akademisches Orchestra, the Würzburg Bläser Oktett, the Baton Rouge Symphony, the Huntsville (Alabama) Symphony, and the Decatur (Alabama) Chamber Orchestra.
At MCC, he conducts the Wind Symphony, the Waco Area Youth
Wind Ensemble, and the Waco
Community Band. He is author of the Warner Brothers method book Directional
Warm-Ups for Band and has been a featured contributor to numerous editions of the Texas Bandmasters
Association Journal. He has published and presented clinics and research
at state and national levels and remains active as an adjudicator, clinician,
and composer. He also serves
as Past President of the Texas Community College Band Directors Association.
