YOUNG BAND REPERTOIRE PROJECT,

VOLUME 1

This first release of the series contains 17 compositions culled from the past 50 years. These older, "established" works (published between 1950 and 1968) provide an ideal starting point for documenting the development of a repertoire composed exclusively for the young band. Works were selected according to survey results of experienced middle school band directors.
Included with the CD is a 12-page booklet containing practical information about each work. Concerns such as instrumentation, playing ranges, key centers, and rhythmic complexities are documented in an easy to read and useful format.
