History of the Texas Community Band Directors Association

Our organization had its beginnings in 1973, when Dr. David Corder (Band Director, Lee College, Baytown, TX) volunteered to organize a Texas junior college all-state honor band for the 1974 annual meeting of the Texas Junior College Teachers Association. A total of 18 schools responded to the invitation, sending 114 students to San Antonio for the event in February of 1974.

The organization first joined with the TMEA Annual Convention in 1986.
