ABOUT PDF FILES:

PDF stands for "Portable Document Format" and is a product of Adobe©. With Adobe's software Acrobat Distiller©, a graphic intensive page layout can be converted to a PDF file. This file can then be downloaded and, with the use of Acrobat Reader©, printed out exactly like the original copy. This is useful because you don't have to have all of the fonts used in the file or even the application that created it. (PDF files also have other advantages, all of which Adobe would be glad to tell you about.)

But what's really great, is that Acrobat Reader is FREE! You can download the application for Mac or Windows by visiting Bandroom.com Publications LINKS page. Acrobat Reader will allow you to print our score samples in a reduced size with clean, smooth music notes, slurs, etcetera on you printer whether it's inkjet or laser technology*.

HOW TO USE A PDF FILE:

Download one of our score samples to your computer. Launch Acrobat Reader and open the score sample with the File > Open command from the menu bar.

Although Acrobat Reader is rather large, it is a handy utility to have for your Internet activities.

NOTE:

When you print our Score Samples, please be certain to select the "shrink to fit" option. Our samples are actually 4 sheets of 8.5 x 11 inch paper, creating a document formatted for "virtual" paper sized 22 x 17 inches! This larger-than-life size makes it easier for you to see the notation on screen. It will still print legibly on standard letter-sized paper . . . just select the "shrink to fit" option in Reader's print dialogue box.

*We have found that laser printers seem to prefer the use of an Adobe printer driver for Acrobat Reader to print . . . this doesn't appear to be necessary with an inkjet printer. You must also have a current printer driver for your brand of printer - otherwise text will be run together without spaces betweenthewordslikethis.
